Fitness Watch Open Sound Control Interface
This is an interface where a smartwatch will control various systems that accept Open Sound Control messages. The accelerometer will be used to control the volume on a laptop. The thermometer will control heating and cooling (demonstrated with light bulbs). Heart rate will also be filtered, processed, and monitored.
To design this system the team had to find a suitable watch. We were looking for the right sensors, popularity, and price. We started with a Garmin watch but after difficulty developing and maintaining a Bluetooth connection, we switched to an open source watch called the Bangle watch instead. Once the Bluetooth connection was working we built a dashboard to display all the watch sensor data. Then we were able to send Open Sound Control messages to applications. Staring with simple applications and getting more complicated.
