The Institute for Creativity, Arts, and Technology (ICAT) brings together scientists, engineers, artists, and designers to tackle some of the world’s most complex problems. Powered by advanced technology and networks of talented and creative people, ICAT brings together and supports teams of faculty and students from across academic disciplines to address particular needs, ranging from large societal problems to industry-specific challenges.
The connection between people separated by distance has been a research interest of the Institute for Creativity, Arts, and Technology (and its Centers for Human Computer Interaction and for Educational Networks and Impacts) for a while, but the COVID-19 pandemic has amplified this challenge and increased its urgency. Given this, ICAT has implemented a rapid response call in three areas of immersive connections.
The Cube is a four-story-high, state-of-the-art theatre and high tech laboratory that serves multiple platforms of creative practice by faculty, students, and national and international guest artists and researchers.
The Center for Educational Networks and Impacts advances high quality SEAD teaching and learning opportunities in the P-12 contexts and leads in STEM work-force development from early childhood through professional practice.
