Seeing Flavors
Food Science & Technology Department • Newman Library
The goal of Seeing Flavors is to take open-ended descriptions of food—like recipes or product reviews—and extract descriptions using Natural Language Processing. This demo will explain the project and demonstrate two interactive tools: an interactive tagging program that we have trained to find descriptive terms in food-related text and a descriptor-identifying “game” we designed to make it easy to train the tool. The audience will get to direct a researcher in using these programs and get an intuition for how this kind of machine-learning works.
