How do we clean water?

Sources of our water we use for drinking, agriculture, and recreation can include surface water (rivers, lakes, streams) and groundwater (wells, springs, and aquifers). Each of these sources can be polluted by things like bacteria, metals, or chemicals that need to be removed before we can use it. One way that we can clean polluted water is by using water filtration. Water filtration cleans water by using filters made from different materials to help remove or lower the amount of pollutants in the water. In this activity we will demonstrate how to build a simple water filter.
