We will demonstrate the concept of volcano inflation and deflation in response to magma reservoir changes beneath the surface using an analog model. The analog model also shows how GPS instruments can be used to monitor movements of the surface, which is what the Geodesy and Tectonophysics Laboratory does at Virginia Tech for the Ol Doinyo Lengai volcano in Tanzania.
