CENI Playdate — Square Dance Cubed

Square Dance Cubed

The Square Dance Cubed was an exciting fusion of geometry, music, Appalachian culture, traditional dance, and Virginia Tech technology. The creative team that put the event together will describe the processes, lessons learned, and outcomes. Professional dancers and members of the public wore motion-sensor headgear while square dancing in order to communally create graphical representations of the dances in real time. The Square Dance Cubed was part of the 2019 Crooked Road Tour, and was held in Moss Arts Center's Cube. The project was funded by an ICAT SEAD grant.

Speakers: Zach Duer, Anne Elise Thomas, Jen Barton, and Phyllis Newbill
