Tom Martin

Tom Martin is the Executive Director of ICAT.  He is a professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, with courtesy appointments in the School of Architecture, the School of Design, the Department of Engineering Education, and the Department of Computer Science. From 2023-2025, he was a program director at the National Science Foundation, where was a member of the Human-Centered Computing cluster and co-led the Smart Health program. He received his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.  His research and teaching interests include wearable computing, electronic textiles, interdisciplinary design teams, arts-integrated research, and smart health.
