Field Dependence and Implications to Immersive Environments
Field dependence is a concept used to describe how our perception is affected by the context of the surrounding perceptual field. For this reason, it is relevant to multiple topics in immersive environments research, such as learning, visual analysis, and cybersickness. The goals of this project are: 1) to design and validate methods for measuring field dependency inside virtual environments; and 2) investigate the correlation between field dependency and individual susceptibility to cybersickness. We expect that this project will contribute to increase the comfort and effectiveness of virtual reality applications.
