The Stories of Migration performance project

We are going to set a small performance space, adapting to the space that we are given. The original space for our performance was the Cube, and it had space for a harp, space for a dancer, floor projections and electronic music. We will downsize according to what the space demands and use the space as it allows. If the space does not have a projector, I can rent a projector. If the space is not dark, we can set up a small performance space without the projector. If we cannot be in a small part of the Cube, we can also be in the Perform Studio, or in the Sandbox or in the main lobby. Each of these spaces would require different adaptations. If we have to stay in a room with no possibility of having speakers or projectors, we can simply have the harpist and the dancer perform, which does not require electricity. Thank you!
We interviewed people who agreed to share their stories of migration. We selected parts of the interview to become part of the music composition. We decided on what the atmosphere of the performance might be like. The stage manager in the team started to design how large the place was going to be, how audience was going to sit, and other aspects of the stage. We brought a rope to rehearsals as a symbolic prop for the dancer to interact with and create a choreopgraphy. The composer in the team, composed music according to what the interviews were about and according to our goals with the atmosphere for the show. The harpist and the dancer in the team rehearsed. All team members were thinking together during this process, including in the rehearsals, to provide feedback to the performers and decide on exactly what happens during the performance. The artist (also harpist) created video and edited scenes for the floor projection. We rehearsed more. The sound technologist (also the composer) programmed the concert to play correctly within the Cube system for sound and projection. We rehearsed more, prepared and printed the program and performed.
