A display of four sculptures created by undergraduate students over the course of a two-day art and design workshop, which was hosted in the CID Makerspace at the beginning of the Spring '25 Semester.
Working on the ICAT Student SEAD Grant allowed us to purchase materials to host a two-day long sculpture workshop, where we selected 16 undergraduate students from a large pool of applicants to participate in teambuilding exercises and skills trainings. Each student group were tasked with creating a large (human-scale) sculpture responding to a unique prompt. Our students, monitors, and investigators spanned many disciplines, from engineering and architecture to studio art and graphic design. We also worked with the entire range of experience, from first year students to fourth year students - many of the students had never used hand tools or power tools before that weekend.
