The Science Museum of Western Virginia has forged a unique relationship with Virginia Tech to support the pathway of university research onto a public platform, and provide museum visitors the chance to get hands-on experience with innovative technology. The relationship has resulted in four new exhibits on the museum floor this year. Museum-university liaison Phyllis Newbill will take playdate visitors on a virtual tour of the museum to see new exhibits featuring gliding snakes, microorganisms, honeybees, and helmet research. Researchers can learn more about partnering with the museum through broader impacts, service learning, and other opportunities. Phyllis works in ICAT's Center for Educational Networks and Impacts, and is one of several liaisons with local educational organizations
