See for Yourself: Strawberry DNA
Biochemistry Club • Biochemistry Graduate Student Association
Ever wonder what makes you different from a strawberry? Cells have instructions on how to behave, which are encoded in genes in our DNA. It's probably a word you've heard before, but have you ever seen DNA? We will show you how to extract DNA from strawberries with household materials so that you can actually see the genetic material that is normally packed inside cells. You can even follow along at home with strawberries, dish soap, isopropyl alcohol, coffee filters and small tubes!
