The goal of Seeing Flavors is to take open-ended descriptions of food—like recipes or product reviews—and extract descriptions using Natural Language Processing (NLP).  Thus, Seeing Flavors seeks to provide a deep-learning solution for a common task in food science: identifying and structuring descriptive language for sets of food products.  In the current project we have applied deep-learning approaches to a corpus of ~7000 whiskey reviews in order to develop automated, data-driven descriptive lexicons for whiskeys.
