Southwest Virginia Sound Scenes

Southwest Virginia Sound Scenes extends the mission of the Seek Education, Explore, DiScover (SEEDS) Nature Center in Blacksburg, Virginia by implementing a new mode of engagement, learning, and discovery through spatialized audio. Southwest Virginia Sound Scenes will capture the sounds of flora and fauna of Southwest Virginia with sound field microphones and play them back with an interactive “jukebox” at the Nature Center. The jukebox will have multiple loudspeakers, producing spatialize audio, and provide options to play sounds from a menu or randomizer, with informal assessment available for those who want to test their audio identification skills.
