Matthew Wisnioski is associate professor in the department of Science, Technology, and Society and associate director of the Human Centered Design (HCD) Interdisciplinary Graduate Education Program. His 2012 book Engineers for Change: Competing Visions of Technology in 1960s America is the inaugural volume in a new MIT Press Engineering Studies series.
Matt is at work on a new book titled “Everyone an Innovator” that explores the rise of innovation as the dominant framework for contemporary knowledge labor with special emphasis on the emergence of “innovation expertise” and hybrid art/science/technology initiatives. He is working with ICAT as an embedded humanist and teaching the graduate seminar the Origins of Innovation. He received his BS in Materials Science & Engineering from Johns Hopkins and his PhD in History from Princeton.
