Design Robotics combines analytic research with open-ended discovery and iterative feedback from material experimentation through the use of automated fabrication tools. Here, the robot is used to support the development of new processes or prototyping larger industrial process. In short, we are focused on creating new ways of making things and experiences. The newly developed Design Robotics laboratory within the School of Architecture + Design, Center for Design Research provides a flexible platform for experimentation in support of functional collaboration. Through a series of examples, this talk will present the nature of Design Robotics and the capacity of emerging campus resources to facilitate new modes of collaboration for students and faculty across the university, and representatives from industry and practice.
