NuSpark team graduates to Techstars Austin

"NuSpark congratulates Lawnstarter, an online lawn care company on its successful entry into Techstars Austin.  Lawnstarter is one of the initial teams to work within the NuSpark space just five months ago.

Techstars is a nationally recognized accelerator which helps young technology companies grow.  It is very competitive to gain access, with only 1% of applicants gaining entry.  Steve Corcoran, a co-founder of Lawnstarter says of the move, “Techstars provides seed funding, intensive mentorship, and an amazing network of mentors and alumni. We hope that we can take advantage of this great opportunity and grow both LawnStarter and as entrepreneurs.”

Lawnstarter launched in April, 2014 in a test market in Arlington, VA.  The company has expanded to the Austin market as well and has 2 employees besides the co-founders, Corcoran and Ryan Farley.  Farley is a VirginiaTech alumnus, class of 2012.

“Lawnstarter is an example of the NuSpark concept.   NuSpark is more than a workspace, it provides a place for collaboration and it provides programming to assist people in developing their ideas into a viable product or service.  We are thrilled Lawnstarter outgrew the space and is taking a next step, “says Sherry Walker, Director of NuSpark.

Lawnstarter hopes to be able to expand their business beyond their initial start-up markets and eventually, become a household name.  Information on Lawnstarter can be found at lawnstarter.com.  Information about NuSpark can be found at NuSpark.org.

NuSpark is an innovation and collaboration community supporting the Roanoke and New River Valley regional innovation ecosystem.  As such, NuSpark is a program of the regional innovation ecosystem supported through The Virginia Tech Foundation, the Roanoke Blacksburg Technology Council, the Roanoke Blacksburg Innovation Network, the Corporate Research Center at Virginia Tech, VT Knowledgeworks, the Institute for Creativity, Arts and Technology, and the National Science Foundation’s regional I-Corps program through Virginia Tech."
