Identifying Collaboration & Creativity in Instrumented Buildings to Support Innovation

This study follows a simple experimental design to identify patterns within accelerometer and motion tracking data and to link these patterns with human behaviors and outcomes. First, the Moss Arts Center and Institute for Creativity, Arts, Technology uses motion-tracking cameras to capture movement and interaction. Second, Goodwin Hall is the first building of its kind to be densely instrumented with accelerometers allowing researchers to capture fine-scale data on human activity within this engineering building. In this project, we aim to leverage these two buildings to support a second generation of studies that identify, interpret and model human behaviors and outcomes, especially creativity.
