ICAT Playdate: The Rhythms of Connection
February 9 @ 8:30 am - 9:30 am UTC-5
Description: Katie will share findings from her study of interpersonal attunement during group, improvisational drumming. Experiences of interpersonal attunement are deeply felt and embodied connections between individuals that are the building blocks of interpersonal bonds. During her study in the Cube, Katie used motion capture and physiological monitoring technologies to explore how these connections developed over time during the music making experience. Findings from the study provide evidence of the transcendent connections that occur during group music making and offer a new perspective on the interpersonal benefits of
arts-based experiences. Attendees will discuss research implications and brainstorm future directions of inquiry related to the arts and human connection.
Speaker: Katie Biddle, School of Education
