ICAT Playdate: Traffic Sonata
March 23 @ 8:30 am - 9:30 am UTC+0
The Traffic Sonata research group is working to (1) discern patterns in how vehicles move through phases of intersections, by sonifying traffic flow into music; and (2) track pitch and loudness of acoustic instruments, to switch traffic lights on and off.
This installation combines these two approaches into multimedia art, with audio of live performance on violin, oud, and qanun, accompanied by sonified traffic flow data and video of the corresponding traffic lights.
Speakers: Charles Nichols, SOPA; Monty Abbas, CEE
