Expressive Speech-Driven Facial Animation

Using a machine learning approach that relies on a database of speech related high-fidelity facial motions, a generative model of expressive facial motion that incorporates emotion control while maintaining accurate lip-synching is created.

Emergency Evacuation Planning for Lane Stadium

A real-time crowd simulation system based on an accurate 3D model of Lane stadium will be implemented as well as an emergency evacuation plan with real-time crowd simulation for different emergency scenarios, like lightening or a bomb threat.

Dynamic Responsive Facade

Initially conceptualized as a response to solar shading needs, the design for the Flower Wall was inspired by the natural beauty of phototropic response from flowers, such as a sunflower or morning glory.

We introduce a GPU-accelerated visual analytics tool with the design objective to identify temporal patterns from large and complex data.

Drummer Game is a real-time strategy game in which players control an army of terra cotta warriors by using Chinese drums as controllers.

Development and Demonstration of the AURA Building Enclosure System

This research seeks to develop and demonstrate a new dynamic building enclosure system, the AURA, that actively responds to environmental conditions such as sun and light while transforming the boundary between indoors and out.

Creative Community Engagement

Christiansburg Institute Oral History Project

During the fall 2012 semester students in two of Dr. David Cline's (History Dept.) Oral History classes worked in conjunction with the Christiansburg Institute, Inc. and the Christiansburg Institute Alumni Association to record oral history interviews with alumni and other individuals associated with Christiansburg Institute.
