Integrating Data for Emotional Assessment: Applications for Interpersonal Deception and Food Interaction Decisions

The connection of sub-conscious emotions occurring “in the moment” to conscious decisions is not understood. Our project is studying unconscious (uncontrolled) activities in the brain, the face, and the body at the moment when a person is confronted with an emotional situation.

Impromptu Glorious Chorus Project

The project involves preparation for a performance for the Center for the Arts opening in November. The guest artist, Elise Witt, was invited by Ruth Waalkes to create an “impromptu glorious chorus,” which involves community workshops with groups and individuals culminating with the public.

Identifying Collaboration & Creativity in Instrumented Buildings to Support Innovation

This study follows a simple experimental design to identify patterns within accelerometer and motion tracking data and to link these patterns with human behaviors and outcomes.

IDEAStudio launches special study course: Bridging the Arts, Sciences, and Humanities through Creative Technologies

In the fall semester of 2011, IDEAStudio team members implemented a transdisciplinary course that brought together students from industrial design, computer science, instructional design, and educational psychology with the purpose of collaborating to design educational products at the intersection of the arts, science, education, and creative technologies.

Fusality for Stream and Field

Researchers supported by the Institute for Creativity, Arts, and Technology are developing an interactive 3D environment that will bring together data from multiple research locations, including water quality data, to produce more comprehensive models and analytics for community ecosystem monitoring, targeting ongoing research activities at Stroubles Creek and the Catawba Sustainability Center.

Fractional Drumming
